Excessive Heat Watch for Bay

Share

Recording breaking high temperatures are possible Wednesday - Friday.  High temperatures will hit the upper 80s to upper 90s from north to south across the Bay.  An Excessive Heat Watch has been for the immediate Bay through the Santa Clara Valley for Wednesday afternoon through Thursday afternoon.  Greater attention should be paid to young, elderly, and infirmed during this time.

Hello Mike,

First thanks for the informative weather broadcasts. I am heading to the Sierras this weekend and I am wondering what is the maximum altitude of the smoke layer.

Thanks
John

Hi John,

It took some searching but I found pilot reports from around California.

The thickest concentration of smoke is between 4000 and 9000 feet with smoke reaching heights near 14000 feet. The Sierra smoke will increase Saturday as a southwest wind develops in this part of the atmosphere. By Sunday you should see some improvement.

Safe travels,

Mike
