Perfect Pet - Friday, 2/13/09

Molly is a 3 year old 10 pound spayed female Chihuahua Mix.

Molly was found as a stray with her puppies in Fresno. Those cute little things were adopted immediately, and now free from the responsibilities of motherhood Molly is looking for a forever home of her own. Molly is a favorite among Marin Humane Society staff. Shy and easily frightened at first, she needs someone who will be patient and sit with her for a bit and get to know her. Give her time to trust you.  Once she does, you’ll have a new best friend for life!

A partly sunny sky develops today and still cooler than average with highs in the middle to upper 50s.

 

Our brief break from the rain ends around 9pm this evening when rain and snow showers return to the Bay.  Snow levels drop to 2000 feet overnight with snow totals near 2 – 6 inches.  Lows dip into the middle to upper 30s in our Inland valleys and upper 30s to lower 40s around the Bay and coast.

On and off rain and higher elevation snow showers continue Friday.  Highs will struggle to reach the upper 40s to lower 50s.  Rainfall totals will near .50” by Friday evening.

Flood rains are possible Saturday night.

Perfect Pet - Bee Bee

Bee Bee is a happy young girl who loves to be around people. She has a lot of energy so is looking for a home that will give her a lot of exercise… maybe running on trails or along the beach? She is a sweet girl that wants to find her forever home soon, preferably one without cats.

I’m forecasting rain showers and mountain snow showers for 6 out of the next 7 Days.

Today’s showers may have an isolated clap of thunder this afternoon.  Highs remain on the cooler side of average, lower to middle 50s.

Rain tapers tonight and partial clearing leads to patchy fog formation.  Lows dip into the middle to upper 30s in our Inland valleys with upper 30s to lower 40s around the Bay and Coast.

Thursday’s sunshine, the only dry day, brings slightly warmer weather, highs in the middle to upper 50s.

Rain showers and mountain snow showers return Thursday Night and continue through Tuesday.

The Bay Area Air Quality Management District is issuing the eleventh Winter Spare the Air Alert today which bans burning wood, manufactured firelogs or any other solid fuel, both indoors and outdoors, until the alert is lifted.

Air quality in the Bay Area is forecast to be unhealthy.  During this Winter Spare the Air Alert, it is illegal for Bay Area residents and businesses to use their fireplaces, woodstoves and inserts, pellet stoves, outdoor fire pits, or any other wood-burning devices.

Wet Weather Arrives Today

Light rain reaches the Coast at 4PM and spreads east during the evening and increases in intensity tonight.  Before it arrives, the increasing clouds cool temperatures back to seasonal levels, lower to middle 60s.

The rain tapers to scattered showers Thursday afternoon while temperatures cool even more, upper 50s to lower 60s.

Another round of rain arrives Thursday evening and lingers through mid-morning Friday.  High temperatures continue cooling, middle to upper 50s.

By Friday evening, rainfall totals reach .50” to 1” around the Bay with over an inch in our higher elevations.
