The well run dry?

Share

Mike,

What's with this recent transition from meteorology to astronomy? Is there some vital weather related relevance to the planet Mars? Or have you tired explaining for postponements of World Series contests?

BACKGROUND: Verne is referring to my last two Weather Blurbs in the San Jose Mercury News about being able to see Mars in the August sky.

Hi Verne, People ask, I answer. Simple as that. No agenda on my part. Over the last two years, we've veered into astronomy several times. Just a few days ago I received a question about the Moon and tide cycles, another about wave heights and swells in the Monterey Bay, and even why we don't have fireflies. In the case of Mars, an internet hoax is circulated just about every August about Mars being the closest it will ever be to Earth and will look as big as the Moon. Mike
