Record Rainfall

Share

MIKE_RAINFALL_Totals
So far, today's storm, which ends this evening, produced the most rain ever to fall on October 13th in San Rafael and Downtown San Francisco.

San Rafael shattered its old record of 2.04 inches from 1957.

Downtown San Francisco's old record of 1.80 inches occurred in 1962.  You may remember the Columbus Day Storm from 1962.  It was the rainfall event that postponed the Giants-Yankees World Series several times at Candlestick Park.  Just like today's storm (remnants of Super Typhoon Melar), the Columbus Day Storm was also once a typhoon (Freda).
