Coldest Time of Morning

What time is the coldest time in the morning? I need to set a timer for the mini-lites around my frost-tender plants.

Great question, very timely. Thank you.

Right now our sunrise is near 7 AM. On a clear and calm night, the coldest time is about an hour before to a half-hour after sunrise.

Black Friday Rainfall Forecast

The system bringing us wet weather for Black Friday is slowing and strengthening.  Rainfall amounts are increasing and the coverage area expanding.

Light rain develops in the North Bay late this evening and spreads south overnight. A second push of scattered showers provides a chance for wet weather during the afternoon and evening hours.

No wood burning allowed today and through midnight tonight.  Bay Area Air Quality Management District imposes fines on those who do not comply.

High pressure over the Great Basin keeps all of us dry today except our northwest corner where light rain arrives this afternoon for places like Eureka and Cresent City.  High clouds increase through the Bay Area, Central Valley and into Tahoe.  Santa Ana winds keep the warmest weather in SoCal. 

 
Good news for snow-lovers at or heading to Tahoe.  More snow is likely Friday with scattered snow showers Saturday and getting there today and heading home Sunday will not be a problem, weather-wise.

If you travel more than 100 miles for Thanksgiving, Wednesday is the busiest travel day leading up to Thursday.  If you travel less than 100 miles, Thanksgiving is the busiest travel day. 

Snow, could create travel delays in the Upper Midwest Wednesday along with the Great Lake states, and the Ohio River Valley Thursday.  Rain may do the same in the Southeast and Pacific Northwest.

Fridays Perfect Pet & Macy's Holiday Windows

 
 

Catalina is an American Bulldog.  She is a sweet as a cupcake gal. She has recently undergone knee surgery and is recovering nicely; thanks to all the TLC she's getting from the San Francisco SPCA's dog walkers and expert belly-scratchers. She's a big strong girl looking for just the right match for her smarts, strength and love of all things human.  

 

The Macy's SF/SPCA Holiday Windows opens today.  Starting at 5 PM today you can watch live streaming video of the animals looking for a home this Holiday Season in their beautifully decorated temporary homes at Macy's Union Square.

 

Volunteers are needed for this incredible annual event.  Are you interested?  

Update - Friday's Rainfall Forecast

 

Wet weather returns to our neighborhoods tomorrow.  The morning commute will be wet in the North Bay with the rain reaching the Bay by lunch and the South Bay by the early afternoon hours.  Rainfall amounts taper as the system slides southeast through the Bay. 

The rain ends by 7 PM.  Your Friday evening festivities will be rain-free.

Another cold front is on the way.  This will be the second in a series of three rain producing fronts.  The final is forecasted for Sunday.  We will have more on this weekend storm Friday.

For Friday, our storm system brings a better chance of widespread rain with high amounts.  Looks like the rain begins in the North Bay after the morning commute and slides south during afternoon and early evening. 

If your yard/landscaping is getting dry, this one should take care of it for a while.
