Warmest Day This Year

Share

An area of high pressure settled off the Pacific Northwest Coast yesterday.  It created calming conditions and held the cooler ocean air at sea.  Without our typical ocean breeze, temperatures soared to their warmest levels this year.

As the high pressure builds north today we will feel the effects of its clockwise circulation.  The clockwise circulation creates a land breeze over the Bay Area.  The land breeze chases the ocean-cooled air and any cooling fog even farther away.

When we have a land breeze, the air down-slopes off our mountains.  As the air descends, it heats even more making today and tomorrow our warmest days.
