Any Summer Weather for August?

Mike:
When you look at the long range forecast model – do you see any warm weather for August? I have a strange feeling we won’t get any summer weather until Indian Summer time in September or October and then it will be short lived…
I think we should re-name San Jose to Salinas this summer…
Thanks,
Bob McTighe
Hi Mr. McTighe,
Great question and a topic I'm hearing more and more people talk about.
The Climate Prediction Center issues an 8-14 day outlook and it's not going to please those looking for summer heat.
We have a better than average chance of seeing below normal temperatures through August 31. For a detailed description of the above graphic please read this.
The persistent and unusually placed jet stream is steering a cooler than average airmass form the ocean over the Coast and Bay Area. This stronger than average onshore wind gets its chill from the ocean water, water temperature in the 50s. During a typical summer, the jet stream would travel closer to the U.S./Canadian border.
