Big Basin State Park Prescribed Burn

The Vegetation Management Prescribed Burn begins today in the Big Basin State Park.  The burn of nearly 800 acres will take several days to conduct.

The location of the burn is between Johansen Road, Gazos Creek Road and Middle Ridge in northern Santa Cruz and southern San Mateo County.

Fire prevention/containment resources will be on hand throughout all phases of burning and will be patrolling the fire area until the burn is completely out.

Smoke may be visible from the burn area for several days and is not a cause for alarm.
